At Catholic Education Arizona, we are deeply grateful for the dedication and wisdom that Todd Bankofier and Carlos Sugich have brought to our Board of Directors over the past six years. As they complete their service in July 2026, we take this moment to celebrate their extraordinary contributions to Catholic education across Arizona.
Todd and Carlos joined the Catholic Education Arizona board at a pivotal time. Together, they guided Catholic Education Arizona through some of its most defining chapters, including the milestone achievement of surpassing $25 million in revenue in Fiscal Year 2022 and the launch of the new philanthropic division, Changing Lives with Legacy.
Nancy Padberg, MBA, President and CEO, said, “To Todd and Carlos: thank you. Your six years of service are woven into everything we do. The students whose lives have been changed by Catholic education carry your legacy forward, and Catholic Education Arizona is immeasurably better because of you.”
Todd and Carlos’ six years of service to Catholic Education Arizona stem from their dedication to the Catholic faith and value of quality Catholic education. Their commitment to changing lives is reflected in the students of the Diocese of Phoenix Catholic Schools, who show incredible results:
- 99% graduation rate
- 96% matriculate to higher education, trade school, or enter military service
- 1000s of hours of community service conducted annually
“Todd provided exceptional leadership as Board Chair throughout Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023,” Nancy added. “We saw 44% growth under his watch.” Now, Todd is the CEO of Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.
Carlos brought a sharp legal mind and a deep value for Catholic education, applying his expertise as a real estate attorney to help strengthen the organization’s foundation. His thoughtful counsel and genuine care for underserved students made him an invaluable voice in the boardroom.
Todd and Carlos were instrumental in the creation and launch of Changing Lives with Legacy, our philanthropic division dedicated to creating scholarships for underserved, disabled, and foster K-12 students now and in the years to come. Their vision helped build a division that will endure far beyond their board tenure.
