As we go into this season of Thanksgiving, we are reminded of the enormous impact your contributions make in the lives of families in our Catholic schools. With your loyalty and consistent help, we have awarded 153,000 scholarships to children in Arizona since 1998! Children’s lives are forever changed because of your loyal STO (school tuition organization) tax credit contributions. We receive many stories from families who received Arizona private school scholarships to attend one of the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Phoenix. Here are some stories from families impacted by your tax credit!
Keeping Christ in education is why the Gatica family chooses a Catholic education. “You have no idea how much stress you take off families every year!” said the Gatica family. “Without this scholarship, I wouldn’t be able to afford a Catholic Education for my family”, they said. “We pray that people will continue to direct their state tax dollars to Catholic Education Arizona so that many more children here in Arizona can have the opportunity to receive the incredible gift of a Catholic education like my children have. Thank you!” The Gatica family is just one of thousands impacted by your tax credit.
Because of your tuition tax credit, the Sullivan family did the seemingly impossible and sent all nine children through Catholic school! “We have had nine kids go through Catholic education. We’re just an average middle-class family,” remarked the Sullivan family. Without contributors like you, their children would not have attended Catholic schools. “Our kids are spending the majority of their day in someone else’s care. Their minds are molded and shaped by the people they spend their time with. It is nice to know that in a Catholic school, we are supported by like-minded people who share the same morals as we do.” Scholarships to Catholic schools allow families to continue their walk in faith at home and in school.
Natalie Cruz-Patino, a student at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School, described how transferring to a Catholic school changed her life. “Catholic education is helping me be a better human being and be the best version of myself in Jesus, my savior,” Natalie said. Catholic schooling impacted her academic skills and her formation as a whole. Natalie’s parents said, “We are a dual-working family. However, our finances do not allow us to save enough money to pay for the full tuition costs.” The Cruz-Patino family thanks contributors for the ability to send their children to a quality faith-filled education.
