Your Contribution Can Change the Trajectory of an Entire Life
By Stephanie Manalis
With Thanksgiving season upon us at Catholic Education Arizona, we turn our thankful spirits toward the hard-working parents who sacrifice much to ensure their children can receive the best education possible. For Tania Torres’ parents, providing her with a Catholic education was non-negotiable, despite their limited resources. They wanted Tania to have a successful future and to be instilled with self-confidence.
“It gave a young Latina, the daughter of immigrants, permission to see herself as someone capable of leading, serving, and making a difference in her community,” said Torres, an Xavier College Preparatory alumna.

As an Arizona taxpayer, you play a significant role in shaping underserved students into the next generation of leaders in our community. Through the Private Education or Arizona Corporate Tax Credits, you can redirect your tax dollars to Catholic Education Arizona to fund tuition scholarships for underserved, disabled, or AZ foster students attending a Diocese of Phoenix Catholic School, at no additional cost!
“I would tell every taxpayer who supports Catholic Education Arizona: you may never meet the child whose education you helped make possible,” said Torres. “But your investment can change the trajectory of an entire life and, ultimately, a family and a community.”
That stands true for Tania Torres.
Now a successful business owner, first-generation college graduate, and passionate community advocate, she owes it all to the foundation of her Catholic education and her dedicated parents.
Our Catholic schools can attest to this success, with a 99% graduation rate and 96% matriculation to higher education, trade school, or military service.
Catholic Education Arizona is celebrating 30 years, has raised $408 million, and has awarded 165,000 tuition scholarships, creating future leaders like Tania.
