On Friday, May 19, 2023 Notre Dame Prep congratulated 100% of its senior class — a total of 189 students for graduating!
Although it was one of their smaller classes (they will be the last class with fewer than 200 for awhile), 56 students are graduating Magna Cum Laude (3.5+) and 50 are graduating Summa Cum Laude (4.0+).
The Class of 2023 was also unique in the fact that they had a tie for Valedictorian. Jonathan Diamantopoulos and Brooklyne Gabrisko achieved the exact same GPA to the .00001 over four years of study. They knew it was close between the two of them and they were ecstatic when they were told it was a tie. In fact, Brooklyne says the moment they were told, was her favorite NDP memory. Both Jonathan and Brooklyne spoke at the commencement ceremony.
The Class of 2023 was filled with many scholar-athletes, all-region athletes and one all-region soprano in choir. This class weathered the COVID-19 pandemic just as they were hitting their stride in high school. But as senior Jack DeChant stated in his address at the senior awards ceremony when he quoted Sir Isaac Newton, “We have been able see further by standing on the shoulders of giants.” Then he credited parents, teachers, coaches and administrators for being the giants who helped the Class of 2023 overcome adversity and succeed at a high level.
