The Reason for the Season

For many, Christmas is about spending time with family and friends. It’s about making memories that will last a lifetime.  It is the time to touch every heart with love and care, with the promise of a bright future ahead.

However, beneath the hustle and bustle of the season, there is the true beauty of our Savior’s birth, the ultimate gift to our world, that should be at the forefront of our existence.  Jesus brings hope to our busy lives, for those of us enduring difficulty and those of us who have simply forgotten to slow down and enjoy the presence of our Savior.

We get so busy during this season, that sometimes we forget we have hope. We forget the true meaning of Christmas, placing importance on gifts and parties, when our true focus should be Jesus.

But this year, we don’t have to miss out. We can cling to His hope, revel in and spread His love, and embrace of the Savior born in that simple manger.

I was fortunate to see this video in Mass several years ago and was so touched, I want to share it with you:

During this festive season of giving, let us take time to slow down and enjoy the simple things and the true meaning of Christmas. May this wonderful time of the year touch your heart in a special way.

Wishing you much happiness not just today, but throughout the New Year.
