Immaculate Conception Catholic School is a tri-parish school serving preschool and K-8 students from St. John Vianney Parish, St. Francis Cabrini Parish, and Immaculate Conception Parish. The student body also consists of students from a variety of school districts including Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Camp Verde, Rimrock, and Sedona.

Immaculate Conception Catholic School aims to enable students to reach their highest potential both academically and spiritually to become empathetic, valuable citizens for the future.

Humble beginnings

Originally St. Joseph Catholic School, ICCS was a one-room school serving 14 students with a volunteer teacher during the 2005-2006 academic year. In 2007, Bishop Olmsted blessed the school within the Diocese of Phoenix. Classroom spaces and grade levels were added, and the school expanded to include pre-school and eighth-grade students for the 2009-2010 school year.

When more students began to enroll in the school, more space became necessary. As a result, the construction of a new school building began on North Bill Gray Road in Cottonwood. After a transfer of classrooms, the construction of the school was completed in October 2015 and the school changed its name to Immaculate Conception Catholic School (ICCS) to reflect its new beginnings and the shared name of the parish with which it shares a campus. Today, the school serves 197 students, over 14-times the number of students from just 15 years before.

Academic and intellectual excellence

Led by principal Antonio Hernandez, students at ICCS are prepared to become lifelong learners by thinking critically, using technology effectively, and displaying curiosity for the world around them. Students are also taught to demonstrate morally responsible leadership through respecting and celebrating diversity and inclusivity, reaching out to those in need, and demonstrating stewardship for the earth and its resources.

Combining Catholic faith and teachings with academic excellence, ICCS provides a safe and welcoming environment for all while encouraging students to become community leaders.

Supporting ICCS students

Families who may be interested in private Catholic schools often worry that a private Catholic education for their child is out of their reach. But 45% of Catholic schools in the U.S. participate in Federal Nutrition Programs and many students at ICCS receive partial and full scholarships every year to make Catholic education affordable and accessible.
