Dear Friends,

I’d like to take a moment and thank our Catholic Education Arizona community for the messages, cards and support for my father Leland Shonka’s passing last month at 92 years of age. Dad was a member of All Saints Parish in Mesa.  As a member of the community, he was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus for 71 years. Lovingly known as the “spaghetti guy” and “donut guy” – volunteering and fellowship meant so much to him. Special thanks to Fr. Caruso, Cliff, Al, Geri, Dennis, Peppe, Marie, Katie, Eileen who make All Saints a wonderful, welcoming and vibrant community. Dad loved it there. . It was Dad’s love and respect of education that inspired me in my career. Ultimately, we moved to Arizona to be closer to him as he aged and I accepted this leadership role supporting Catholic education 5 years ago. I am so happy we did!
