The partnership between Shea Homes and the Diocese of Phoenix continues this year with much needed updates and improvements that create new possibilities for three valley schools, Christ the King Catholic School in Mesa, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Scottsdale, and St. Mary Basha Catholic School in Chandler.

Christ the King Catholic School in Mesa will start the 2020-21 school year with a game-changing upgrade—brand new technology infrastructure!  The implementation of Christ the King Catholic School’s distance learning plan has been dramatically affected by this gift. Classroom devices will also be upgraded significantly, which will allow a more synchronous teaching/learning experience for students on-campus and at-home.  CTK Pastor, Fr. Rolyn Francisco, expressed his gratitude. “Shea Homes makes good things happen for the community!” Short-throw, interactive projectors with surround sound speakers will enrich interactivity and collaboration between students and the teacher. The new, integrated PA and intercom systems will greatly enhance schoolwide campus communication and student safety. In addition, a new security fence and gates will be installed. These will beautify the outside school perimeter and improve the safety and esthetics of the neighborhood. What has been really exciting for Christ the King Catholic School students is the new sports court! The brightly colored high-performance sports court will help CTK Cougars achieve victory at future basketball and volleyball games! New principal, Charlene Krushinsky, shared, “For years, Shea Homes has been an innovative leader in supporting Catholic schools in their mission in providing an excellent faith-based education. Their incredible gift will positively impact students and teachers for years to come. Thank you to Shea Homes and all their vendors for making Christ the King Catholic School’s dreams a reality!”

Shea Homes has also made dreams come true for Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Scottsdale.  This fall, OLPH will open a 3 and 4-year-old preschool in a brand new facility.  The addition of preschool space is something principal Donna Lauro has desired for many years. Also, right in the nick of time to make the 20-21 re-opening distance learning plan run smoothly, campus technology infrastructure has been updated.  While OLPH has had technology on campus for several years, the new upgrade will allow for expansion of the school’s technology plan and stronger program implementation.  The impact of these gifts to OLPH will be seen in school enrollment and teaching and learning. While infrastructure and the new preschool are significant and beyond anything Mrs. Lauro could have hoped for, this is only phase one.  Another construction project is still necessary but will take place in Summer 2021.

St. Mary Basha Catholic School in Chandler is grateful for additional work on campus this summer. With various campus improvements including technology and safety infrastructure upgrades, classroom remodels, and necessities like restroom and playground transformations, Shea Homes has created a modern, attractive space for teaching and learning.

Shea Homes has been making a difference for schools in the Diocese of Phoenix through generous, transformative construction projects and technology upgrades since 2013.
