Jill Platt came home when she accepted the position of Principal at Notre Dame Prep in 2017. Having attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Scottsdale and Sacred Heart Catholic School in Prescott once upon a time, Platt spent much of her career in educational leadership outside of Arizona. Her previous school leadership roles include Brebeuf Jesuit in Indianapolis, Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago, an adjunct role at DePaul University in Chicago, and a 6- year Catholic elementary school principalship at All Hallows Academy Catholic School in La Jolla, California, prior to coming back to her hometown. “I was excited to bring all of my experience and further education home to Arizona after being away for 13 years.”
Platt’s leadership has strengthened programs, community, and faith at the North Scottsdale Catholic high school. As of July 1, Platt took on a new level of leadership as she assumed the role of President. Platt is the school’s second president since its inception in 2002.
Platt was recently part of a featured panel of educators from around the country on the “Kay Twelve Better Learning” podcast with Kevin Stoller. She also maintains professional partnership with the National Catholic Educators Association, the Principal’s Round Table for Growing Leaders and the National Association for Secondary Principals and most recently was inducted into the Continental Who’s Who Registry of National Business Leaders.
As president, Platt’s responsibilities will focus on institutional advancement. Shifting from personnel management, academic programs, and operations, Platt will now spend her time more fully immersed in development and fundraising, community outreach and partnership, donor and alumni relationships, enrollment management, and finance. This is not new ground to cover for Platt, who has been balancing duties of president and principal during the last 3 years and will continue to do so for one more year. “I will continue to work in both capacities but being recognized as the President is a huge honor and is validating the work that I have been doing to advance the school forward.”
Moving forward Platt’s goals include a capital campaign focused on the future of arts, athletics, and academics as Notre Dame Prep. “We are currently halfway through the buildout of our first of many expansions of our campus, the St. Catherine of Bologna Performing Arts Center. This will only enhance the ability of our talented students to shine through a state of the arts facility.”
Notre Dame Preparatory is located at 9701 E. Bell Road, in north Scottsdale. The school is well known for its academic strength, excellent teachers, Catholic identity, and competitive athletics.
