For nearly three decades, Lance Venable has served his clients with professionalism, integrity, and care as a licensed patent, trademark, and copyright attorney. But beyond his impressive legal career and successful business in the Valley, Lance is a man deeply committed to giving back—and Catholic education holds a special place in his heart.
As the owner and managing member of The Law Office of Lance C. Venable, PLLC, Lance is not just another business owner. He is a long-time, loyal corporate partner of Catholic Education Arizona (CEA), using his platform to make a real and lasting impact in the lives of children and families who dream of receiving a Catholic education.
A Foundation Built on Faith
Lance’s journey began on the South Side of Chicago, where he attended 12 years of Catholic school—including four years at Quigley South Seminary High School. Reflecting on his experience, he recalls the rigor, discipline, and compassion that shaped his values and outlook on life. “The caring teachers I had during that time are probably some of the most positive influences in my life,” he shares. “They gave me an appreciation for the importance of education, and quite frankly, I don’t think I’d be the same person without them.”
He fondly remembers how the school was more than a place of learning—it was a true extension of his community. “Everybody from the principal down to the ladies working in the cafeteria had our best interests in mind and wanted us to succeed, not just academically,” Lance says. That deep sense of purpose and support has stayed with him and now motivates him to give back to others in the same spirit.
Giving Back Through His Business
As a small business owner, Lance takes full advantage of Arizona’s unique tax credit opportunities to support Catholic Education Arizona. After leaving his former workplace in 2014 to start his own law firm, he saw an opportunity not only to grow professionally but also to be a force for good. For Lance, redirecting tax dollars to support education is a simple but powerful step.
“Being a tax credit, it makes it even easier for us—and I’m sure for a lot of others—because it really wasn’t costing us anything,” he explains. “The idea of being able to help families send their kids, to offset those costs so that they can continue on in Catholic school, is very important.”
Lance’s commitment goes beyond personal philanthropy—his business model is rooted in personal relationships and community values. With 28 years of legal experience and a background as a design and applications engineer at Motorola, Digital Equipment Corporation, and US West Communications, Lance brings both technical expertise and heartfelt dedication to each client he serves. All of his business comes through referrals, a testament to the trust and connection he builds with clients, whether local or across the country.
Investing in Futures, One Student at a Time
Venable’s involvement with Catholic Education Arizona is an extension of his desire to help shape the future—not just for his own children, but for the entire community. “Catholic education has become far more expensive than it used to be when I attended school,” he notes. “I don’t believe that it should be available only to the wealthiest individuals. I hope that my contribution helps pay for others who would not otherwise be able to afford it.”
Thanks to the support of partners like Lance, CEA has been able to serve over 153,000 students in the last 26 years. These aren’t just numbers—they’re lives changed, dreams realized, and faith nurtured.
When asked how he would thank the donors who make this mission possible, Lance reflects with sincerity:
“There are not enough words,” he says. “The best gift you can give a child is a Catholic education. This isn’t just a temporary blessing—it’s something that will stay with them forever.”
Through his business, his faith, and his heart for service, Lance Venable proves that simple steps—when guided by purpose—can make a lifetime of difference.
