Jeff McQueen, President and Co-Founder of Shea Homes Active Lifestyle Communities, joined Nancy Padberg, MBA, President and CEO of Catholic Education Arizona, and Deb Preach, COO, to talk about why it is important for taxpayers to take advantage of the tax credit.

For over 30 years, Shea Homes has been active in the community, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars back into the community and building up Catholic education. Why Should AZ Taxpayers Take Their Arizona Tax Credit for Education?

“Arizona, we’ve been a leader in school choice. The Catholic schools are really a phenomenal place to not only learn and get a great education, but it is like a family environment… It really is a great place to grow up and learn. I personally went to a Catholic high school, all my children went K through 12.”

Why is this Important?

“It’s great that Arizona is a leader because it allows us to choose where our state tax dollars go as opposed to just sending them to the capital and allowing the bureaucrats to send the money out. We actually get to choose where we want the money to go.”

“We really believe the Catholic schools in these disadvantaged neighborhoods make a huge difference in the quality of life for people and families and our future of our country and the leaders and our workers.”

What Do You Want Potential Contributors to Know?

“It’s literally that easy. Instead of cutting a check to the state to pay your taxes, you get to designate where that money goes,” said Jeff. “You just work through CEA and tell them you’re gonna pay $500,000 this year in taxes and instead of doing that you’d rather give it to CEA, they give you the paperwork and then it counts as a deed act on your state tax form and it zeros out. It’s literally that easy, you pay the money either way. Here it goes to a cause you’re passionate about and you know, is going to make a tangible difference in the community,” Jeff remarked.
