Catholic Education Arizona provides scholarships to underserved children to change lives, serve society, and transform culture. Through the help of Arizona tax credits, Catholic Education Arizona has provided 153,000 scholarships since 1998.
There are four ways you can be a hero in a child’s life:
- AZ Individual Tax Credit
- AZ Low Income Corporate Tax Credit
- AZ Disabled Displaced Corporate Tax Credit
- Donation to the non-tax credit Changing Lives Division
Arizona Individual Tax Credit
The benefit of taking the Individual Tax Credit is it is a 100% dollar-for-dollar tax credit, which means it is at no additional cost to you. Here is how it works. The Individual Tax Credit allows taxpayers to redirect their AZ tax liability to organizations like Catholic Education Arizona. Individuals may designate their contribution to a specific school, or the General Scholarship Fund, funding scholarships for schools with the highest unmet need. To determine how much you can contribute, take a look at last year’s state tax return. If you file Form 140, look at Line 48 to find the amount you can contribute. If you file Form 140PY, look at Line 58.
For tax year 2023 (through 4/15/24), you can contribute up to $1,307 for single filers and $2,609 for married filers. You can make your contribution online at CEAZ.org, by phone (602) 218-6542, or by mail. Once you made your contribution, we will email or mail a receipt to you. Present your tax credit receipt to your tax preparer as proof of tax payment to Catholic Education Arizona.
AZ Low Income Corporate Tax Credit
Arizona business leaders can join Grand Canyon University, Cigna, Earnhardt Automotive, Lumen, Shea Homes, APS, and hundreds more in impacting our community by redirecting their Corporate State Income Tax to fund scholarships for underserved children. If you are a business owner, the Corporate Tax Credits are a wonderful way to make a significant impact on the community – and costs you nothing. Through the Corporate Tax Credits, business owners can redirect up to 100% of their AZ Corporate Tax Liability to Catholic Education Arizona. The Low Income Corporate tax credit allows corporations to redirect their tax liability to fund scholarships for students in low-income families.
AZ Disabled Displaced Corporate Tax Credit
Corporations can also redirect their corporate tax liability through the dollar-for-dollar AZ Disabled/Displaced tax credit. The Disabled/Displaced tax credit funds tuition scholarships for students with learning disabilities or who have been part of the AZ Foster Care system.
Non-Tax Credit Donations
To help bridge the education gap and fund unmet need, Catholic Education Arizona launched the new non-tax credit Changing Lives Division. Contributors looking to further their impact and give beyond their tax credit contribution can make a donation. Please contact Jim Pogge, Director of Development, at jpogge@ceaz.org.
Becoming a hero in a child’s life is within reach today. Whether you choose to redirect your taxes, give a planned gift, or a pure donation, every gift provides access to a quality Catholic education to underserved children in the Diocese of Phoenix. Visit www.ceaz.org or call our office at (602) 218-6542.
Catholic Education Arizona is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization and has never accepted gifts designated for individuals. Per state law, a school tuition organization cannot award, restrict or reserve scholarships solely on the basis of donor recommendation. A taxpayer may not claim a tax credit if the taxpayer agrees to swap donations with another taxpayer to benefit either taxpayer’s own dependent.
