“I am a proud alumni of Catholic education. My parents desired a quality education for me growing up, which was a wonderful gift that I am blessed to have been given. I graduated from Mount Carmel Academy in Wichita, Kansas in 1964. I am happy to say my parents made me stick to it, even when I did not realize at the time the gift I was being given. The school was a fabulous old building, with beautiful architecture, that has since been demolished. I made lasting memories, but some of my most cherished memories were of Sister Mary Flourette, our art teacher. She inspired me to become the professional artist I am today.

My work is a reflection of who I am. I work in a spontaneous manner until I have built up a surface on a support by texturing, layering papers, and painting. Often repeating this process many times. As the work develops, this process becomes one with the satisfaction I feel with the final image. I love to paint the ‘cruciform’, the cross.  Sometimes the image of Christ pops up in the painting.  It’s truly a wonderful gift.”
