Queen of Peace, K-7th Grade, 1992-1999

“Anything I became is because of the education I received from Queen of Peace Catholic School.”
– John Halk

There were many benefits. The Academics were above anything you would find a public schools. In 5th Grade, I had to write a research paper on China detailing social issues, economics, military, and more. It was the hardest paper I wrote until I entered college. I transferred to public schools from 8-12th grade at Kino Jr. High and Westwood. Even with AP Classes, the work was easy compared to my time in Catholic schooling. It set a great foundation for me to excel in school, college, and helped set me up for success by continuing to law school and passing the Bar.

In addition to the academics, it also helped build a religious foundation as well. While I recall not enjoying the religious studies in school, it did stick with me and ultimately make me a better person. Anything I became is because of the education I received from Queen of Peace Catholic School. I’m currently engaged and going though my confirmation classes to receive the sacrament of marriage. It’s a new kind of education with religion, and builds on what I learned in school.

I was an eagle scout at the age of 14 and then graduated from Mesa Community College with Honors. From there, I became President of Events at the ASU Student Council. I continued into Law School, Juris Doctorate while staying on the Dean’s list and receiving the CALI award for the highest grade in Will and Trust. I also completed a 30-mile Spartan Ultra Race and compete frequently in Spartan and Tough Mudder races. In my free time, I volunteer with several organizations.

Looking towards the future I am excited for my wedding in September and the adventures that come with married/family life. Currently, I’m working on breaking into more real estate investment opportunities, specifically multifamily properties. I’m a member of AZREIA and continue to self-manage a rental property I have owned for years. I am on my way to becoming partner at the law firm I work with. Next year, I look forward to competing in an Ironman race.
